Who is ASSP?

You are ASSP: the Associated Students of Seattle Pacific. The ASSP organization is your organization and is here to serve you in such ways as bus passes, Talent Show, and Group as well as representing your voice to the University administration.

What is the role of the President?

Represent student concerns to the University administration. For instance, the President meetings regularly with President Eaton and as the primary student representative to the Board of Trustees

Oversee the ASSP organization through the office of the Vice Presidents. For instance, the President has the finals responsibility for the disposition of the ASSP budget and serving as an ex-officio member on all ASSP committees.

What has been done well?

This year, the student voice has been well represented to the Board of Trustees and the President to staff in such areas as the new University Center design and the hiring of the new Sodexho General Manager.

The services offered to students has improved, especailly with the launch of Exodus, which provides student discounts and an easy bus pass system for you to participate and serve in the city.

Student leaders, such as the Vice Presidents, have been empowered to improve ASSP from streamlining the finance process to hosting another year of great events at a lower cost.

What can be done better?

Next year, I want to focus on better aiming the organization of ASSP to serve you, the students, by improving the internal system and increasing transparency to meet real student needs in real ways. For more, see the Issues page.
